we exist To seek the glory of god and the good OF DURHAM

How We Accomplish This

Seeing individual lives changed and community formed by: believing the gospel, belonging to community & becoming more like Christ.

Social renewal

Cultivating flourishing for all people through championing mercy and pursuing justice for individuals and in systems.

Cultural renewal

Integrating faith into our vocations, recreations & creations.

  1. we value being...

We believe that everyone is hungering and thirsting for more in this life, and that God alone can satisfy and quench this hunger & thirst. Therefore, we believe our chief end is to glorify God by enjoying Him and boasting in what He has accomplished.

Grace centered

We believe no one is too good or too bad to be beyond the reach of God's grace. God welcomes the sure and the unsure. The grace of Christ has the power to transform the believer and the unbeliever.

Cross Cultural

We believe all people are created in the image of God, crowned with glory and honor, and we believe that the gospel of Jesus breaks down barriers and creates a unified community across race, ethnicity, and class. We desire for our church body to reflect the diversity of our city.

outward serving

We believe God sent His Son to come and serve, not to be served. Likewise, we believe that through the power of God we are sent to serve as His people in our city and world, to be His hands and feet to one another, our neighbor, our city, and our world.

We believe God not only called us to plant a church in the heart of downtown Durham, but also to be a catalyst, a church that helps create a movement. We believe this includes helping in the work of other church plants, for-profits, and non-profits, in Durham and beyond, that seek the renewal of all things through and for Christ.

OUR Story

Daniel and Timothy started dreaming and praying about a downtown church in Durham, NC in 2010. The dream became a reality when an initial group committed to meeting in June 2013 for weekly Bible study, prayer, and discussion on the church. We officially launched our first public worship service January 2014. God has been gracious to raise up many partners including Church of the Good Shepherd, Chapel Hill Bible Church, and Eastern Carolina Presbytery, and has grown our congregation in so many ways. We are excited about where we are and where the Lord is taking us!

Our Beliefs

Christ Central Church is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America, a group of churches whose beliefs are summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. Click below to read a brief synopsis of some of the more important truths of our faith.
